Candidates must be able to demonstrate the following:
Essential
- Good standard of education
- Good communication skills
- Good keyboard skills
Desirable
- Previous Personal Lines experience
- Previous relevant work experience
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade A-C) or equivalent.
Desirable criteria may be raised at short listing and assessments may be used as part of the selection process.

Principal Duties
To develop commercial insurance business, both new and existing, to ensure that targets are achieved.
Principal Accountabilities
- Achieve branch GWP, Income and Margin targets
- To provide the technical and practical knowledge of commercial insurance (general commercial or financial liabilities) in order to develop the overall commercial account
- To continually obtain referrals (by various means) with a view to obtaining new business and sustain growth of account
- Motivate co workers to ensure targets achieved
- Help develop the Commercial brand within the market place
- Manage credit control in relation to own commercial portfolio
Candidates must be able to demonstrate the following:
Essential
- Proven track record in commercial insurance broking in a target driven environment
- Highly developed communication skills with strong customer service ethos
- Demonstrated ability in negotiation and influencing skills
- Working knowledge of FSA
- Ability to organise and manage own work schedule and flexibility in relation to working hours
- Good standard of education
- Full driving licence
Desirable
- Membership of a relevant professional body
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Products and Open GI
- Recognised qualification or ability to demonstrate key skills in Maths and English
- Clean driving licence
Core competencies required:
- Attention to Detail – checks all work thoroughly before passing it “fit for purpose”
- Customer Relationship Management – to build and manage relationships with major accounts by clarifying their needs, meeting expectations and resolving queries effectively.
- Influencing/Negotiation skills– able to promote a point of view in a positive manner that wins acceptance and commitment from others.
- Fostering Teamwork – demonstrates respect for the role and status of team members and ensures they understand each other’s perspectives, objectives and needs.
- Tolerance for pressure – performs consistently and well under constraints such as time and high workload
It should be recognised that the nature of this post will change over time as the needs of the business change and it is a requirement of the job that the holder will contribute to its development to meet these changing needs.
